Community Health Endowment Awards Over $1 Million to New Projects

To achieve the vision of making Lincoln the healthiest community in the nation, the Community Health Endowment (CHE) Board of Trustees recently approved grants totaling $1,012,630 over three years to fund new projects. All grants listed begin on January 1, 2026.  

  • Renovate the Gathering Place to expand access to healthy food for residents in Lincoln’s core neighborhoods. (Community Action Partnership, $150,000 over 2 years.)
  • Expand trauma-informed outreach and mentoring for individuals vulnerable to or recovering from sex trafficking. (I’ve Got A Name, $75,000 over 3 years.)
  • Improve access to specialty and primary medical care for 1,200–2,000 individuals annually through the Medical Assistance Program. (Lancaster County Medical Society Foundation, $267,630 over 3 years.)
  • Support English literacy and healthcare career preparation for 90 low-income students to earn CNA certification and enter healthcare careers. (Lincoln Literacy Council, $75,000 over 3 years.)
  • Construct a new playground at the relocated Northeast Family Center to meet licensing standards and promote children’s development. (Northeast Family Center, $45,000 over 1 year.)
  • Establish an organizational backbone structure to expand equitable, low-barrier youth fitness and sports opportunities across Lincoln. (Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln, $400,000 over 2 years.)
