Community Health Endowment Funding Priorities 2026-2028:
The CHE Board of Trustees used local data (which can be found here) to determine the following set of funding priorities.
- Access to healthcare for targeted populations, including understanding of and access to primary care and health coverage* for populations where disparities exist, particularly partnering with representative community members.
- Access to healthy food for targeted populations that face health disparities.
- Mental health access for targeted populations, including increasing awareness of and access to mental health services.
Definitions
Targeted Populations: Groups of people that data show face disparities or barriers to health, evidenced in Place Matters, Lincoln Vital Signs, the Community Health Assessment, or other local data sources.
*Health Coverage: Includes health insurance provided through employers, private insurance companies, the Affordable Care Act Marketplace (including subsidies), Medicaid, and Medicare. This is in alignment with the data shown in Place Matters 6.0, which can be viewed here. Organizations may also include other arrangements that help cover healthcare costs, such as sliding fee scales, payment assistance, discounted care, or medical debt forgiveness.
Eligible organizations for funding from the Community Health Endowment include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, government agencies, educational institutions, and tribal entities. CHE does not fund individuals, research, lobbying, political parties, or debt reduction.
